Dr. Maleyko named Michigan Superintendent of the Year

Dearborn Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Glenn Maleyko has been named the Superintendent of the Year by the Michigan Association of School Administrators (MASA).  Chris Wigent, Executive Director of MASA and Randy Liepa, Superintendent, Wayne RESA, delivered the good news to Maleyko at the Monday, Nov. 12 Board of Education meeting. “Dearborn Schools is a wonderful place to be.  This is a wonderful community.  This award really belongs to the whole school community,” said Maleyko after the announcement was made.

This school year marks the start of Maleyko’s fourth year as superintendent in the 21,000 student district.  The award recognizes his hard work, leadership, innovation and collaborative efforts.

“Dr. Glenn Maleyko has proven himself to be an outstanding leader for Dearborn Public Schools, and I am honored to present him with the 2019 Michigan Superintendent of the Year Award,” Wigent said. “Always putting students first, Dr. Maleyko cares deeply about their success, which has paid off in many areas including an increase in rising graduation rates. His vision and careful strategic planning are leading to greater success for the students in Dearborn, as well as the educators who nurture their academic development. In addition, his leadership in the district’s social media presence is impressive and demonstrates his willingness to ensure that there is a strong connection between the school district and the community.”

During Maleyko’s tenure, Dearborn Public School has had two schools named by the Department of Education as National Blue Ribbon Schools, and the District was named a District of Distinction by District Administrator Magazine.  Graduation rates have continued to improve and reached 95 percent in 2017.

Important information for former PESG subs who worked in Dearborn

Dearborn Public Schools will make payments directly to former PESG substitutes for the time they worked in the District during the September 30, 2018 - October 13, 2018 pay period and the October 14, 2018 - October 22, 2018 pay period.

If you have signed a temporary agreement to work for Dearborn Schools effective October 22, 2018 or after, the only additional documentation that you will be required to sign is a legal receipt/waiver.  You will also need to provide photo identification in order to receive your check.

If you have not signed a temporary agreement to work for Dearborn Schools, but substituted in Dearborn Schools via PESG for the pay periods stated above, you will be required to complete a W-9 form, provide photo identification, and sign a legal receipt/waiver in order to receive your check.  You are encouraged to complete the W-9 prior to your visit.  Click to acces the W-9 form

Checks will be available beginning November 16th from 8 am - 4:30 pm in the Welcome Center in the Administrative Service Center at 18700 Audette St., Dearborn.  Checks must be picked up in person by the substitute that worked (not other family members or friends).

Unfortunately, any services outside of the above time periods have been paid to PESG so any recourse must be through them.

Again, we want to thank everyone for your patience during this very unfortunate situation brought on by the sudden closure of PESG.
